Release: Will Rap For Truth and Justice
Bass-heavy head-nod Hip Hop to uplift the spirit of the every day individual. My lead single “Get Up/State of the Union” ft/ Head-roc & Noyeek The Grizzly Bear addresses how I feel it’s necessary to bring real commentary from a working class perspective. Something for those of us who go to class, and go to work knowing we want something better for ourselves.
My music is the embodiment of each individuals’ daily struggle to do what’s right in a world where it’s so easy to do what’s wrong. The internal “holy war” of our collective conscience. We all have to choose from right, wrong and everything in between. Our choices effect the life we live, and consequently the world around us, friends, family, acquaintances, environment, and vice versa.
Releasing singles previously with the Amphibians (Lettuce b/w Journey – 1996), and Defined Print (The Fine Print – 1998, Rhymes Connect – 2002) taught me a lot about promotion and distribution. Will Rap For Truth and Justice should have been in your hands last year as a part of the Jihad For President campaign. However on Oct. 16, 2004 half way through the promotional tour, I flipped my tour truck. So, needless to say, things got put on halt as I recuperated and hashed the new ad plan.
In the song Love Lessons I speak to youth and adults upon relationships and how we need to value ourselves and our spirit in the relationships we maintain instead of simply physical wants and needs. The word Jihad means striving. In its primary sense it’s an inner thing, within self, to rid it from debased actions or inclinations, and exercise constancy and perseverance in achieving a higher moral standard. This is the basis of my art, and the driving force behind my actions. I believe if each individual took it upon themselves to practice Jihad our world would be a greater place.
